Back with a bang-le!

I am just emerging from the early stages of getting ‘up the duff’. This is my excuse for doing nothing with my spare time in the last few months, other than sleeping.  I am afraid my inspiration for good post headlines is still wanting, and I have to say I feel very little like arriving with a bang, but it really was the only thing I could think of. And here it is; a bangle I made (idea nicked from birdface who started doing these years ago using pretty origami paper and papier mache) and photographed just before I turned a pale pistacchio colour back in April…

Zippity doo da!

Hot on the heels of my one and only sale, I’ve gone a bit purse production crazy. Here are a few of my latest designs. The old lady, slightly twee floral ones are totally me. The cool vector rabbit was totally my boyfriend’s suggestion, as were the lovely, heavy metal zips and I’m a bit cross that he has all the good ideas…

All soon to be sold (hahahahahahaha!) at etsy.com

It's not all about me

Apparently. Having looked about for places to tart some of my wares in the city of Bristol, I’ve discovered inspiration in every corner. I thought it was about time I started to record some other people’s stuff. Enter Birdface; an uber talented lady who also happens to be a friend of a friend. What a small world etc…

I LOVE her jewellery, beautiful paper cuts and am envying her talent for turning things into gorgeous things. Feeling inspired, I am just in the process of botching a papier mache bangle in scary single white female fashion.

Check out very lush scarf below and her inspirational blog across the way in my fledgling blogroll…

You've been framed!

Terrible title but I’m not feeling very inspired this evening. Probably because I wore myself out yesterday creating these little art pieces, one in time for lovely little Daisy’s birthday and the other to see if I could make a robot work with Ethan’s name. It’s squinty work and I’ve now got back ache and eye strain. Still I’m sure the one year old recipients will really appreciate them. Hmm..

I’m not sure how I’ve justified them being art pieces actually. Probably the ever so artistic chipboard ikea frames.

SOLD!

I was very excited this morning to learn Lonely Badger (set free from horrible quilting square and appliqued to a cute little woolen purse) has found a home in Australia. I felt my first online sale, even though the profit is non-existent, deserved a photo shoot. Tada!

Four little birdies all in a row...

…1, 2, 3, 4, off they go! Oh dear, I’ve been watching way too many In the Night Garden episodes… This was my first cushion commission and it took far longer than I planned but I got there in the end and mastered a very neat zip and a perfect cushiony shape.

Disco!

A giant balloon, six newspapers, two bags of flour, 40 sheets of silver card, a glue gun and five evenings later I’ve started dreaming about papier mache and silver squares. This picture was taken with just a few pesky squares to go and I’m running sufficiently late to make a wide entrance at our friend’s ‘ballroom/brothel/beauty queen’ themed fancy dress party…

Shuffling down the streets of Bishops Castle like a giesha girl. A very fat sparkly one.

Arrived! Hmm… it looks likes no-one’s noticed.

Phew!

It’s going to take a lot of glasses of lovely booze to fill that belly. Which it did. Great fun, a lot of work but it was worth it. :)

Baby bunting

Babies are popping up everywhere! I’ve no time to make anything other than bunting these days…

The creepy lighting wasn’t intentional, I just need to learn how to use the camera properly…

Vinnie and Mark

Here are some socks I couldn’t throw out. This pair was owned by my boyfriend and completely threadbare on the ball of the foot. He gets attached to things and hates throwing old stuff out. Even manky socks. I couldn’t bear to see the sole of his foot poking through them any longer so I turned them into this handsome chap. And he went down a treat! Named Vinnie because of his vintage heritage.

Vinnie photoshoot

The other pair were my little boy’s first pair of socks and so something I was reluctant to get rid of. They had a monkey’s face on the heels which provided a good little opportunity! There were a few other pairs in the pack, so Sand and Spencer should make an appearance soon…

And suffering the consequences.

Stern words

Ooo what a cheeky little monkey!

Cheeky!
